November 28, 2024 – Brittany Courville Accuses Bryan Scott Kuchar of Harassment in Twitter Thread
On November 28, 2024, Brittany Courville published a thread on her X (formerly Twitter) account in which she accused me, Bryan Scott Kuchar, of engaging in harassment and threats. She referenced my 2023 business registration of the name “That Surprise Witness LLC” and my restraining order petition, which she described as “meritless” and “frivolous.”
Main Tweet:
Caption:
“And this timeline also includes demon clown Bryan Scott Kuchar squatting on my business name & filing a meritless frivolous restraining order of his own in Georgia. Lima and Bryan seem to have teamed up over their mutual disdain (and apparent jealousy?) of me. His FLOPPED 2 lol”
The tweet was part of a longer thread in which she claimed coordinated harassment by others and repeatedly referenced me in connection with those allegations. The thread characterized past and current legal filings as tactics of intimidation against her and claimed that all of these efforts had “flopped.”
Thread Context:
The thread repeatedly misrepresents my legal filings and actions in a way that appears intended to delegitimize and humiliate. While public commentary on legal events is protected speech, continued reference to private filings with exaggerated or inflammatory language — particularly terms like “demon clown” and claims of “squatting” — may distort the facts and context.
Relevant Legal Considerations:
- Restatement (Second) of Torts § 652E – False Light
Publishing exaggerated or misleading statements that cast someone in a false light, particularly about legal actions, may rise to the level of defamation in false light. - N.J.S.A. 2C:33-4.1 – Cyber-Harassment
Continuous disparagement and public labeling with derogatory terms may constitute online harassment under New Jersey’s cyber-harassment statute if intended to embarrass or alarm.
